Practical Details
More details will appear here in due course.
Venue
NB: beware - at the time of writing, Google Maps has some of the colleges in the wrong place...
Travel
We strongly advise that you come to the conference by public transport. A car in Oxford is more of a liability than an asset. Everything in the conference is only a short walk away - except the (rare and expensive) parking spaces!
For overseas delegates: the nearest airports are London Heathrow and Birmingham International.
- There are regular busses from Heathrow to Oxford - these take about 90 mins. and cost about £25 return. See www.oxfordbus.co.uk for details.
- From Birmingham International, there is a direct, hourly train taking about an hour. See www.nationalrail.co.uk.
- There are regular trains from London (Paddington) to Oxford, but these are only sensible if you are visiting central London.
Take a taxi from the bus station (Gloucester Green) or train station to the Jowett Walk flats (not the college) to register.
Climate
Its England: bring an umbrella!
Power
Overseas visitors: pick up a UK adaptor before you travel (our plugs are not the same as mainland Europe). Also, if you are coming from the US or other 110 volt countries, check your appliances are compatible with 240 volts. Most laptops and mobile phones are dual voltage, but your hairdryer might melt!
Special requirements
If you have special dietry requirements or mobility problems (and can't manage short walks) please let us know as soon as possible.
